As a kid, Saturday mornings were all about cartoons. Two of my favorites, The Flintstones and The Jetsons, were opposites in many ways but shared a focus on family.

Where they differed most? Work.

Fred clocked grueling hours in the rock quarry, punching his timecard for 40 hours a week. George? A breezy one-hour workday at Spacely Sprockets, thanks to futuristic tech that made work efficient and easy.

Now, here we are approaching 2025, with Jetsons-level technology, yet so many workplaces still operate on Flintstones-level expectations—demanding long hours plus 24/7 connectivity. The result? Burnout, stress, and disconnection from the very advancements designed to make our lives better.

Leaders, it’s time to rethink work. Let’s leave behind Stone Age thinking and into the forward-thinking future Hanna-Barbera envisioned—a workplace that’s innovative, balanced, and human-centered.
